The American Psychiatric Association's "Goldwater Rule" deems it unethical to diagnose someone without having examined him. (The American Psychological Association is in accord.) Well, lucky for us, we aren’t psychiatrists. And, it should be noted, one need not be one to administer the Hare Psychopathy Checklist.
But that’s sort of the point of this. We trust any reasonable person reading this site would agree that there is something seriously wrong with this person. Whether it is malignant narcissism, personality disorder with narcissistic tendencies, sociopathic narcissism, psychopathy, or something else, we aren’t going to know for sure, because he certainly isn’t going to sit down with Bob Hare, another psychologist, or anyone else (he won’t even release his tax returns).
The point of this site is to address the elephant in the room, which is that Trump has some form of mental illness.
And therefore this can’t continue to be an ordinary political conversation. Trump has something very, very wrong with him, and it clearly informs everything he does.
Until that becomes part of the discussion, we aren’t having a real discussion.
If you have an alternative theory, you’re free to contact us (or better yet, start your own website).
But it must be part of the discussion.
